SUCCESSFUL REGATTA AT THE YACHT CLUB
Mr. A. L. Shields Reviews The Season's Activities
A successful afternoon's sailing on Saturday proved a fitting. close to the season at the Royal Hongkong Yacht Club when a large number of members and friends attended to watch some extremely good racing, although sailing conditions were far from being ideal
こ
In the cruiser class Mrs. Beck brought "Norseman" across the line first, with Miss Owen Hughes in "Sexlark.” second. The "B" class went to Mrs Thompson in Colten," closely follow- ed by Mrs. Kemble a "Rola."
Mrs. Baker scored a comfortable victory in "Toynette in the "I." "Y" and "G." class, with Mrs. Wren in “Zeyphr,”" BES- ond. The firial race ("A" class) went to Mrs. Griffin in "Wasp II," who held a good lead over Mrs. Murer in "fan" Third place was taken by Mrs. Adams in "True Blue.""
At the conclusion of the races, Mrs. A L. Shields gave away the prizes, but before asking her to do So, the Commodore. Mr. A. L. Shields said:
ނ
many aids to the memory of so
suder from "Hong of us who Kong-Head," and require a good deal of wet nursing."
Mr. Shields added that the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club trophy for Service boats was won
by the

"The outstanding feature of the Cruiser Class races, has been the success of the Typhoon Design of four tonners, and the outstanding boat in that class is "Monsoon,” sailed by Mr, Dulley.. You will notice that other four tonhers are well represented in the prize-11st, and I imagine the Handicapping Committee will probably make some adjustments next year. In saying this, I am not any way dis- paraging the Class or the owners. as they are a hard-bitten lot, and push their boats through it will all the sail they will carry, in the worst kind of weather.
In the Handicap: Class, "Rolla” has carried off most of the 'honours, and she is undoubtedly the fastest sailing craft on our Register to-day.
"In the "I and Y""Class, “Ailsa". won the Challenge Cup and the Championship, and was second in the Corinthian Races, and in the "" Class, "Joan" and "Zephyr"" have been particularly noticeable. "In the "Anchor" Class, "Jan" is again the outstanding boat, but "True Blue," "Gull” and “Artemis" were finding their true form to- wards the

We have all participated in many most enjoyable sailing races and cruises.
In addition to this many of- ficers' wives have taken part in the Ladies' and 'other, sailing races. My wife is one of them.
