Cabinet's "Serious Consideration"
Special Air-Mall-Service
London, April 10. Sir John Simon announced this afternoon that the Government are giving "serious consideration" to Germany's increased estimates for Army, Navy and Air expenditure.
This important statement was made in reply to questions by Mr. R. Boothy (C.; Aberdeen E.) and Brigadier-general Spears {C., Carlisle).
Mr. Boothby asked if the Foreign Secretary proposed to take immediate steps to ascertain bf this increased the purpose expenditure, and whether he con- breach sidered it constituted a of the Treaty of Versailles.

The Prime Minister, asked Mr. Boothby whether, in view of these substantial increases in, the German estimates of expenditure on naval, military and air defence and the general sitation on the Continent of Europe, the Govern- ment would take immediate steps to increase the strength of our air force to a one-power standard. replied:

The A. O. F. Corp. has received the following report from their - New York correspondenta, E. A. Pierce & Co. Sentiment is somewhat no- » settled due possibly to the realization that the Tax Bill about to be passed : "in Congress is not going to be so pleasant when effective. There seems to be a feeling of uneasiness under the surface which is hard to define and harder still to analyse; nevertheless, such a feeling exists.
Wheat: Market nervous and erratic. There was intermittent liquida- tion for May, but prices staged a lato rally due to nervousness over crop
news.
Cotton: Liquidation was constant throughout the session, but, con=" >idering the extent of selling, the market autou well and sentiment is no more friendly, despite the lower trend of prices.
Silver: Prices fluctuated over wide limits, meeting renewed liquida tion on rallies, while declines encountered scattered support, there being evidence of good scale-baying on Far Eastern accounts.
