functions. Any lack of calcium results in pain and prostration, but these are quickly relieved as soon as the " shortage is made good. By taking Kalzana, the scientifically approved calcium treatment, you can avoid pain and discomfort. By restoring the balance of calcium in a natural way, Kalzana must do you good, and cannot possibly be harmful.

lack of Calcium is 'próbably a contributi

ting factor," writes Dr. H.F., B.W.** Londoa.

Before Baby comes

The expectant mother should be careful to remember that she must supply all the calcium needed to form her baby's bones and tissues. Kalzana gives all the extra calcium needed, and cor- rects any shortage in the mother's diet. It protects the mother against loss of hair, decay of the teeth, vomiting, general weakness and debility, whilst it also ensures her baby against any pre- disposition to rickets.

Preserve your own health, and safe. guard your baby's by taking Kalzana in good time.

(Use it during the last six months of

your preg nancy).

Note

Remember that your teeth are living parts of your body. The food they require is Kalzana, the calcium food. If your teeth get too little calcium, they be- come weak and liable to decay.

Such teeth are a constant cause of pain and trouble and never look #1 healthy,

Start taking Kalzana and notice how quickly your teeth become strong and white. By taking Kalzana, pain and trouble are prevented, decay is ar rested and your teeth permanently

strength-

ened.

His decision to relinquish 1931 the presidency of the General Medical Council, the body which registers medical men. enforces observance of the striet etiquette of the profession, and tries and if necessary penalises them for breaches of it, was taken for health reasons.

For a long period his work in Glasgow and London made it necessary for him in many weeks in a year to spend two nights in the train.

Ancient Castle Born at Perth, Scotland, on May' 17. 1854, Bir Donald came of a Scottish family which for centur les had been hereditary keepers of Tarbert Castle, an ancient stronghold built by an early Scots king,

Sir Donald MacAlister of Tar- bert was the style he chose when a baronetcy was conferred on him in 1924.

His education began A+ Aber- deen, and was continued at Liver- pool, St. John's College, Cambridge, St. Bartholomew's Hospital, and Leipzig.

In 1876 he obtained the first of his many academic distinctions, when he was Herschel Prizeman, and in the following year he was Senior Wrangler and First Smith's Prizeman.

Sir Donald's first post was ma- thematical master • Harrow.

After spending a year or two there he became lecturer in Natural Philosophy at St. Bartholomew's Hospital.

In later years he was a Fellow

of St. John's College. Cambridge, and senior tutor and Lineacre Lec- turer of Physics.

For 22 years he was Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Glasgow University. During his term of oface 20 new chairs and over 20 senior lectureships were founded.

A Doctor of Medicine, he was also Master of Arts, Bachelor of Science, a Fellow of the Royal Society, Edinburgh, of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of London, Edinburgh and Ireland, and the Royal Geographical Society (of which he was a gold medallist).

¿

Several universities, in recogni- tion of his scholarship, conferred honorary degrees upon him. H6 was made in 1919 a Commander of the Legion of Honour and Cavalier of the Crown of Italy.

He was also a poet of no mean order, and he translated much verse. Not content with giving Greek verse an English garb, he on occasion translated it into Rus- sian.

Sir Donald was Vice-President of the British Association in 1928. Many Royal Commissions and Standing Committees had the beneft of his experience.

Bir Donald married, in 1895, Edith, eldest daughter of the late Alexander Macalister, Professo Anatomy in the University of Cambridge. They had no chil- dren, and the baronetcy is now extinct.
