According to a Canton report, it appears that early on Saturday morningWang Le," a large su gar-junk, loaded with a big quantity of sugar-cale & "Ap Wo" of the Chung Shan Districty, set sail for Hong Kong, but while ahe WAS sailing near the "Pan Sah Mei' of the Chinesee Territory, a sudden squall arose and blew straight towards the junk, causing hor to capsize and sink.

Seeing the accident, two other cargo junks, which accompanied her during the voyage, immediately assisted in the rescue, but on ac- count of the rapid current, only the coxswain and two men were saved. The coxswain's son and daughter and a foki were carried away by the strong currents and drowned.

Souter, chairman of the company, said that in spite of restrictions on trade caused by exchange difficulties, tariffs and quotas there was operation of evidence that the world trade was recovering and that the demand for ships was increasing: Progress could not be anything but slow. because the "great mass of tonnage laid

Referring to up. tonnage, Mr. Souter said tramp that British tramp shipping had fallen by one-half since 1914 and "KAWALFINDI now stood at under 5,000,000 gross | **4 SOUDAN tons. On the other hand, foreign tramp tonnage had increased by 33 per cent. There were two main causes for this discrepancy: Arst, the competition of foreign subsidiz- ed tonnage and, second, the comCARTHAGE" petition of countries where wages SOMALI"
