PRIZE GIVING AT PING

SHAN SCHOOL

Hon. Mr. J. P. Braga's Presentation Address

Yesterday the first prize giving ceremony of the Taat' Tak school at Ping Shan was honoured by the presence of the Hon. Mr. J. P. Braga who presented a shield, the gift of Mr. Horace Kadoorie in recognition of the school's efforts to give students an introduction to the knowledge of Agriculture.

This school was started three years ago as a Higher primary school to take the place of several small schools staught by individuals.

It is an effort to educate the young not merely by re- petition of text books, but by introducing modern sub jects.

These were present among others, the Hon. Mr. J. P. Braga. The District Officer, Messrs. Tang Shiu Kin, Ng Wa, J. D. Bush, H. R. Wells, and Drs. Y. S. Tsao "of the Y.M.C.A., and Arthur Woo.

The draft of a Bill entitled "An Ordinance to Amend" the Merchandise Marke Ordinance 1890 is published in the current number of the Govern ment Gazette.

Paragraph (b) of section 3 (3) of the 1890 Enactment, which provided that offenders should be liable on summary conviction to imprisonment for any term not exceeding four months, or to

fine not exceeding 100, and in the case of a second or subsequent convic- tion to imprisonment for any term not exceeding six months, or to a fine not- exceeding $250, is now to be repealed and the following substituted there for:-
