Pleasant Function At The C.P.R. Yesterday

FORTY-SEVEN YEARS' SERVICE

A very pleasant function took place in the local. offices of the Canadian Pacific yesterday when, the op portunity was taken by the staff to say good-bye to Mr Allan Cameron, who after 47 years' service with the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, ten of which were spent in Hong Kong as Oriental Manager, is now re- signing from the Company

Mr. F. A. Cox, assistant Oriental Manager in Shang- hai came to Hong Kong, specially for the purpose of making this presentation and Mr. David Drummond also spoke on this occasion.

The presents look the form of a fishing rod for Mr. Cameron and a silver "tea-set for Mrs. Cameron, Mr. Cameron is retiring at the end of this year and will sail for England in March on the Empress of Britain. it is his intention to settle down in Canada.

Mr. P. A. Cox addressing the ga- thering said:-Mr. Allan Cameron, I have been requested, as being the senior member of the Staff in the Orient under your organization, t say a few words of farewell to you on your retirement shortly from the Company's service. This I can- sider a great honour, although it is mingled with very many feelings of regret in saying "Goodbye" to you, In the first place Mr. Cameron, I wish you to understand that I am speaking not only on behalf of the Foreign Staff in the Orient but f all the staffs including Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Filippino Staffs at our various Agencies in the Orient.

Every section of the community was widely represented at the funeral which took place yesterday of Mr. Ho Leung, who died under tragic cir cumstances on Thursday,

There was a procession of over a mile long of mourners and friends on foot and in motor cars and there was an' equally large gathering at Wing Fit Ting, on Pokfulum Road, where the friends of the deceased paid their. Inst respecta.

The news of the death of Mr. Ho. Leung caused a profound shock in the Colony resterday morning, as known among a large circle of friends as a person of amiable diaposition and was held in high esteem. Both so- cially and in basiness Mr. Ho Loung made many friends who showed their esteem yesterday by attendance at the funeral in such large numbers and by sending so many floral tributes.

The news was telegraphed to Shang- hai yesterday and just before the funeral, a cable was received at Messrs. Jardine's reading as follows:-

The message was accompanied by a request to send wreaths to the funeral on behalf of the signatories, but ar rived too late for the flowers to be sent.
