TWO VERSIONS OF THE

INCIDENT.

A recent collision on the Castle Peak Road between two motor cors had its sequel at the Kowloon Ma gistracy yesterday when Mr. A, C. Johnstone of Messrs. Dodwell & Co., was summoned before Mr. Wynne Jones for dangerous driving.

Mr. A. Cole, Secretary to the Hon. Inspector General of Police, eaid he was sitting besides his brother who was driving his car when the accident occurred. They were returning to Kowloon from Castle Peak, and when near the 16 Mile Stone, they saw defendant's car coming round the corner at a speed which he estimated at tween 30 and 35 miles an hour. His ear was proceeding at between 20 and 25 miles.

Witness said that defendant was going at an excessive speed and was not on his proper side of the road. It seemed to him that an seeing the approaching car, defendant swerved to the left, and in doing so his car skidkled and hit the other, carrying off the rear bumper and damaging the off-side rear wheel mudguard.

The last person called to testify was Lee Bing, detective attach- ed to Yaumati Station. He searched the defendant and found the piece of jade upon him and handed it to the Inspector. The accused was then taken to the Police Station.

Defendant at this stage denied ownership of the fade and said that it had been given him to take care of by a man named Jung Soy Sing.

The case then adjourned until 2/30 p.m. on Wednesday after- 2003.
