MOLASSES INTERIM

STATEMENT

London, Oct. 10-Preparations, it is officially announced, are now being made for a reorganisation of the capital of United Molasses and for dealing with the Preference dividends, which have been in ar- rears since the end of December, 1930, The company's books will be closed on Sept, 30 for this purpose and a scheme furnished with the audited accounts this autumn. Since last April the position has Improved.

In the interim report issued last night it is stated that the fall in the consumption of molasses con- tinued until the middle of the year, and the trading profits during the first six months were insufficient to cover full depreciation. Since then there has been an improve ment in some of the most im portant markets, and it is believed that the fall in consumption has come to an end.

They have risen from a level price to which they fell last lowest in the present year of 12s 41d. The return of the quotation to par indicates that in trade and market circles view of prospects is taken than for some years past. During the made important associations with past year or two the company has other tube-producing concerns, and now a very big measure of Ra- tionalisation exists in the industry, while important selling agreements have been arranged with foreign competitors." The big scheme at

Asia Lands, Limited, has received the following report from their New Yorks correspondente, E. & Pierce & Co. The sell-off today, accompanied by the small volume of pressure, did not seem aggressive. It appeared as though traders have re-assumed their wailing attitude, watching for further news and developmentë, particularly anything indicating better. ..... trade results.

Wheat: Buying for the last two days on the gold policy subsided, a lack of short interest making the market vulnerable. Washington developments keep the Trade nervous

Cotton: Irregular and reactionary in sympathy with other market. Pressure was not heavy and speculative demand was less active

Silver: There was some selling from scattered forces as the result of the uncertainty and the lower foreign markets.' Trading was quiet. Business Done!! 1,220,000 shares
