How The "United" Hockey Manslaughter Case

Team Started

(By Our Special Correspondent)

Another hockey team has been formed, and as if to show how keen Kowloonites are on that game, this is another team where practically all the players live in the peninsula. Known as the "United" this team was formed only a few months ago, although the membership is by no means a large one, this "infant "does not lack the first essential for the success of any team-keoness and co-operation.

The formation of the teain came about in this way. Last winter & number of young

fellows-- most of them out of school - found their way into some of the hockey teams in Kowloon, but they soon feel a little out of place, mixing with the much older players. The result was they decided to get together a side, and thanks to the hard work put in by E. C. Gubby and R. J: Reed, the United" soon came into existence.

For a start, these stalwarts found it hard to keep a regular side going and it was really due to their keeness that a full team could be pasuaded to turn out for practise gaines. They per-

severed and soon recruits began to join till now the Club can almost run two teams. Thanks in this happy state of affairs, the United" were able to join the "Mamak" tourna ment and though they do not, for a moment, nurse any hope of getting anywhere near the top of the league table, they are determined to give a good account of themselves in all their matches and one feels that so far as playing the game in every sense of the word is concerned, the." United" need never fear comparison with the older Clubs.

The United bave so far played only one league match-against the sth beat by + goala to nil. "Their next Heavy Battery, R.A. Whom they

Mule Corps, on Sunday, November 5, game will be against Hong Kong on the Marina ground, and it is felt that a very good game will result.

Like a good many other Clubs, the United are unfortunate in that they do not have a ground of their own, For the present, it would be futile for them to expect to have a plot given them as there must be several clubs who have a prior claim to that right.
