The new Walmer, Hfeboat made its first trip to search for a small sailing vessel that suddenly "dis- appeared off the coast. Just be- fore dusk the vessel was seen to be in difficulty in rough sean when inside the Goodwins about a mile north of the Bouth Goodwin light- ship. Y

- When the vessel disappeared the Hitboat was immediately launched: Using ita searchlight it cruised about in the rough sess for three hours over, an area of 21 miles, but without success.

The coxswain of the lifeboat said it was impossible to say whether the vessel had sunk or whether she had sailed swAY.

It is hoped also to carry on a re- gular trade with Sumatra and Java with the larger vessels, which, except for the commander, who must necessarily be a European. will possess a crew composed of Burmese of the seafaring com- munity drawn from the coastal towns of Mergul, Tavoy and Moulmein. It is also learnt that at present it will be necessary for only two of the vessels to carry European commanders, the rest of the schooners being run by a Burmese captain and deck hands and motor engineers, a crew of twenty-one in all in each of the schooners.

The cargo to be carried will be of a general nature, in the way of fish, dried prawns (which have a great sale all over Burma), dry. meat, coconuts, rice etc., and the vessels that touch at Rangoon will carry

ali RWBY piecegoods of descriptions and merchandise which will find a ready sale along the coastal towns along the route.
