FOOTBALL WOODLAND STAG DOUBLE TENTH CONSIGNEE NOTICES.
CLUB BEATEN BY NAVY
SOUTH CHINA FAILED TO TURN"
UP TEAMS
St. Joseph's Win "Portuguese
Derby"
With the exception of the defeat of the Club by the Royal Navy, no surprises were registered in Saturday's matches. The Artillery went down to Kowloon, while the Police were beaten by the Lincolns in a keenly con- tested game. In the "Portuguese Derby," St. Joseph's beat the Recreio by four goals to two.
A mild sensation was caused by the non-appearance of South China in their matches in both the second and.. third divisions. (It will be recalled that most of their players left for the national meet in Nanking and that their application for postponement was refused by the Football Council.)
The young Indians, making their initial appearance in the league, lost to the Club, while the Athletics beat a depleted Kowloon team.
- In the Third Division, the R.A.M.C., who beat the University by 10 goals last week, were trounced to the tune of eight goals by the Borderers.

BORDERERS v. „ATHLETICS
8
Educated as they are, up to the finer points of the game, it is a pity that Chinese football fans cannot be taught the value of sportsmanship. Yesterday, the writer saw another rather sorry exhibition when Chinese Athletic Association met South Wales Bor- derers in the first division of the football league.
At a time when their own play- ers needed all the encouragement they could get, the spectators fled out of the ground, and the only reason that could be advanced for this was that the Chinese were losing.

Howe equalised for the Club with a header, but immediate ly Langmead regained the lend for the sailors. Play was then mostly in the Club's half, and Smith and Clarke increased the lead for the sailors. Towards the end. Howe scored the fourth goal for the Club after a brilliant solo effort.

LINCOLNS v. POLICE. Playing on the Railway ground, the Lincolns beat the Police by two goals to one in a splendidly fought game. Play was very even, so much so that the result was in doubt until the last minute. The Police One feels the pity of it all very gave a good all-round display, and keenly when it is realised that the were worthy of a point if only for leaders of the Chinese community their splendid efforts in the closing spend a lot of time and money in minutes. rest of the forwards were erratic in their shooting. The game
started with the Lincolns attacking, and after Me- Guinness had had a good shot saved by McHardy, Baldry gave his side the lead as the result of a corner. The Police then had three good chances to score but Pile missed badly.
So far as the game was concern- ed. a slippery ground spoilt what otherwise would have been an ex- cellent match. As it was, the standard of play was definitely first division class, and while the Borderers showed better team work, the Chinese were the faster lot. They were, however, out-generailed and lost by 2 goals to 4.
After the interval, the Lincolns again took up the offensive but their forwards spoilt many chances owing to erratic shooting.
