Taken all round, the volume of trading in the past week was very poor, though a steady demandi ̈ was maintained for Hong Kong. Trams, Star Ferries, Electrics, Telephones

Closing tons quiet but steady. Business Done During the Week
The price for Ready Silver rose 1/8 yesterday and the Forward throughout the period. In the rate 1/16, the quotations being smaller issues, there were occa 18.7/18 for Ready and 18 for Forsional flashes of activity, but these" ward.
Silver advices reported on petered out. India and America as having bought. The Continent sold. The tone at the close was steady. In America the rate was higher zt
Spot The 391 for

Opened with sellers at 1/5.3/10, buyera bidding 1/51. Subsequently business was done at 1/3.7/32 for near and October followed by transactions at 1/5 second half October. The market closed at lunch time with sellers at 1/5.3/18 September/October and 1/5.7/32. November, buyers at 1/67/32 for September/October and 1/5.9/32 November,

Asia Lande, Limited, has received the following report from their New York correspondents E. A Pierce & Co. There is nothing important in the way of news so far as inflation is concerned, the topic dwindling in importance, being superseded by a belief that a swing to so-called "onud money policies will soon take definite shape.
Wheat: The weakness of the Winnipeg market was due to hedging sales and better weather. The absence of political news pertaining to inflation induced tired holders to liquidate
Cotton: Quiet and fairly steady, with the Trade buying on set-backs. Speculation has been rather limited. There was hedge-selling towards the close.

Silver: Opened firm, mainly on the batter London parity. The recent decline evidently created a stronger technical position since the market responded easily to scattered boying.
