It's the mellowness of BOOTH'S Dry Gin that makes it so much to be desired in cocktaila. Such mellowness comes only from treble distillation and maturing, in sherry casks and BOOTH'S DRY is the only GIN which receives such care in its mak ing. It is not to be wondered at that the 1st prize Cocktail in the Inter national Cocktail Competition was made with Booth's Dry.

ROOSEVELT'S CUBAN
PROBLEM
London, August. 16. President Roosevelt's message to Fresident Machado of Cuba, asking that political warfare should be abandoned in the interests of
economic welfare, clearly indicates that there will be no armed Ameri- can intervention in Cuba, unless complete anarchy compels it.
The truth is that any attempt at American interference will be deep
resented not only by Dictator Machado, but by all the Spanish- speaking Republics of Central and South America. Intervention, In fact, might have repercussions which would affect the economic welfare of the United States..
This President Roosevelt is most anxious to avoid. Since the failure of the World Economic Conference he has been concentrating on the Bouth American Republics for the recovery of the American export trade. He is at this moment con- templating: a: great ⠀“ goodwill " -drive, to be led by Mr. Cordell Hull in person, in the South American
States.
A BANKER-AUTHOR
Mr, Tom Lamont, the well known American banker, who is now in London, has written a book which
f

LADIES' DAY AT COW ES
The Prince of Wales spent a day at Cowes yesterday. His visit was a surprise to the majority of Yachting enthusiasts and holiday- makers gathered in the town, and when the amphibian machine in which he flew from Windsor alighted on the water alongside the royal yacht few knew de- finitely who the visitor was. There were many shrewd guesses, how- ever, and these were borne out

Paris, August 30. The French Aero Clüb has homologated the new world long- distance fight record of 5.657 miles, 589 yards, established an August 7 by the two French air. men, MM. Codos End Rossi.
The distance, was previously estimated to be 5.911 miles, but revised figures show that the British record, established. in February last by Squadron- Leader Gaylord and Flight-Lt. Nicholetts, was beaten by 317 miles instead of 8714 miles.

TRIBUTE TO MORGANS
In the early days of his great Red Cross drive, Mr. Lamont re- lates, Davison was speaking at De- troit. He was thrown out of his stride by a heckler who roared from the gallery: "We want to know what Morgans are doing with all these hundreds of millions of dollars they are collecting for the Red Cross."
#Do you think that' a fair ques- tion?" asked Davison mildly..
."Yes, I do," was the truculent answer,
