ANOTHER CHANGE OF CONTROL
BANGKOK, Aug. 2. As
generally anticipated there has been another change in the control of the Railways, and the Traffic Superintendent has been promoted to be acting Commission- er-General. The retiring Commis- sioser-General, has held office for four months. Educated at Oundle and Birmingham University, his active life has been spent on the railways and highways, until in 1996 he was made acting director- general of Posts and Telegraphs. After the first coup he was trans- ferred to Irrigation, then back to the Railways to fill the highest posi- tion that service has to offer, and now he is sent back to Irrigation, and if rumpur is to be believed, will retire from active service. A sound engineer, and administrator, his transfer le regretted by the railway servies-Singapore Free Press.
