THE JAVA SUGAR MARKET
Messrs. Pentreath & Co, have for- warded as the following report on the Java, Sugar Market, dated July 27, from the Maclaine Sugar, Co., Ltd., Saurabaya:-

China-Latest cables report that China's buying power is extremely low and this is more than confirmed by the negligible enquiries received from Hong Kong and Shanghai.
The general feeling among mem-L.o.b. bers of the delegation which has just roturned to Australia seemed to be apt elation at the immediate results, although it has been stated that many orders had been booked -but, quiet confidence that the way had been prepared for an expansion of trade with the countries visited Mr. Ralph Simmonds, who uc companied the Nieuw Holland on the recens tour of the East Indies as the representative of the "Mel" bourne Herald, has collected some overseas criticisms of Australia's efforts. He quotes from a section of the press in Singapore, which says:

Criticisms from Java.
There were, as must be expected, some criticisms from papers in Java.
The Cheribon representative of the Handelsblad, Sourabaya, wrote: "Much interest was shown in the show by theiheribon public, hit the interest shown by the visi fors was not reciprocatod by the exhibitors, who could not be found at their stands "And these were other references of the same sort..

Besides a vague report of tha possibility of an infistion announcement by the Administration, explanation of today's strength is lacking.
