TOKYO, July 25. The first oil tanker "for Mr. Matsukata's contract with the Boviet Government is due here in a week or two. It is feared that this shipment will mark the start of keen competition between Boviet oil and those belonging to the Conference.

Asia Lands, Limited, has received the following report from their New York correspondents, E. A. Pierce & Co. The strength prevailing this afternoon was evidently due to the Washington dispatch to the effect that the Administration had not abandoned & programme of possible inflation but was prepared to use this means if the situation demanded such action. In other words it looks as though the so-called “inflation” policy is still the most potent market influence. However, it is not established that the market at this particular time has the ability to go through last week's highs. Wheat: Frices opened at limit busi reached immediately thereafter. The Washington despatch precipitat ed abort covering and induced buying by commission houses. Cotton: Nervous and erratic and easily influenced either way. The early advance attracted considerable realising. Prices subsequently advanced rapidly on inflationary rumours Silver: The market ad marrow reflecting uncertainty on the part of buyers and sellers.” Con- finental banks are reported as sellers on bulges. Inflation rumours near the close encouraged, buying. Businous Done: 1,730,000 shares..
