Several Rules Amended: Large Donations To Charities

Chairman Reviews Past Year's Activities

The annual general meeting of the Hong Kong Foot- ball Association was held at the Sports Club last evening, the Hon. Dr. R. H. Kotewall presiding.

In reviewing the year's activities, the Hon. Dr. Kote- wall said that last year saw the local team win the In- terport for the first time on foreign soil. As a result of the substantial increase in gate receipts from the Sunday Herald Cup competition, the Association was thus enabled to make contributions to several worthy charitable in- stitutions which it was not able to help in the previous year. Since its formation the Association has donated no less than $42,000 to local charities.

Several amendments in rules were also proposed, and the most interesting one was perhaps that in which non- resident players should not be allowed to take part in local competitions. It was, however, defeated.

At the beginning of this year Mr. R. M. Dyer resigned from the position of President of our Asso- ciation on leaving the Colony for good, I should like to express here my own regret at the ever- ance of nearly seven years' happy association with a colleague whose ability and impartiality have won' my respect and admiration.
