Toyko, Biny 23. - It is authoritatively learned that the Chinese have submitted s definite truce plan to Japanese through responsible lenders.

Japanese official quarters appear to be hopeful that a satisfac- tory agreement will be reached shortly.

Pelping, May 23.

The pessimism of last night and this morning has now given place to rising óptimism, for this afternoon it was generally ad- mitted in responsible Chinese and Japanese circles that the posi tion is much more hopeful.
