James Langridge, the young Sussex all-rounder, came of with both bat and ball while O, F. Walters, of Worcester, claimed the honour of scoring the first double century of the season.

At Dewsbury, Yorkshire beat Esex by 10 wickets,
Batting first Essex only inade 01, Verity getting 5 wickets for 31
runs.
Yorkshire made 128 for 4 (dec.) in reply and when, they went in for the second time, Essex made 05. Agnid Verity (6 for 40) bowled yell. Needing only 5 runs to win, Yorkshire.got them without any loss!

SOMERSET BADLY BEATEN.
Good bowling by Townsend and Mitchell gave Derby a seven-wicket victory over Somerset at Ilkestop.
The losers batted first but with Mitchell (6 for 46) bowling on the top of his form they were soon dis- Derbyshire, missed for 87 runs. however, did oven worse and were skittled out for 81, Macdonald Watson (5 for 97) playing bavou with their, batsmen.
In their second venture Somerset made 182 and this time Townsend (5 for 58) claimed the batting hon oura. Set to get 189 to win, Derby to knocked off the required rims for
the loss of only three wickets,
James Langridge covered himself with glory in the above match at Hove which Sussex won by wickets. In addition to storing a century, this playe; niso gor "bag" of wickets,
Sussex scored 445 (Langridge 101) in their frat knock to which Neits replied with 227 when Langridge! took 6 wickets, for 33 runs. Forced to follow-on, Notts made 230 alter which Sussex went in and knocked off the required run with all their wickets intact
