James Langridge, the young Sussex all-rounder, came of with both bat and ball while O, F. Walters, of Worcester, claimed the honour of scoring the first double century of the season.

SOMERSET BADLY BEATEN.

Good bowling by Townsend and Mitchell gave Derby a seven-wicket victory over Somerset at Ilkestop.

The losers batted first but with Mitchell (6 for 46) bowling on the top of his form they were soon dis- Derbyshire, missed for 87 runs. however, did oven worse and were skittled out for 81, Macdonald Watson (5 for 97) playing bavou with their, batsmen.

In their second venture Somerset made 182 and this time Townsend (5 for 58) claimed the batting hon oura. Set to get 189 to win, Derby to knocked off the required rims for

James Langridge covered himself with glory in the above match at Hove which Sussex won by wickets. In addition to storing a century, this playe; niso gor "bag" of wickets,
