Mr. Raven in the course of re- examination by Mr. H. G. Sheldon said the preliminary sketch plans were not ompleted by September The plans which were ready were similar but they were plans to obtain the shape and ac coinmodation which could be pro- vided on a certain area of ground. ZU.S. RULING REGARDING

MARRIAGES

San Francisco, Mar. 2.-The state supreme court to-day in effect afirmed the judgment of the ap- pellate court at Los Angeles which held that a Filipino is not mem- ber of the Mongolian race, by refus ing to review the lower court's de сівіод.

The appellate court's ruling was made Jan. 2 when it granted a position for a writ of mandamus compelling the Los Angeles county lark to issue a marriage license to a Filipino and a white person.

The clerk had refused to issue i license to Salvador Roldan, a Fili pino who sought to marry Marjorie! Rogers.

The court held that the Califor nia legislation which the county clerk hold to apply actually refer- red to persone of the Chinese Tace and of countries adjoining China having the same racial characteris tics.

The state-law has boon in the courte several times since its enact ment by the legislature several years
