ST. PATRICK'S BALL AT PENINSULA HOTEL
IRISH HOSPITALITY GIVES HONG KONG A REALLY GOOD EVENING
ST. PATRICK'S DAY IN THE EVENING, AND WHAT THE TALE OF IRISH HOSPITALITY IS AN EVENING.
THE WORLD, AND THE IRISH SUNG THROUGHOUT PEOPLE OF HONG KONG HAVE ADDED ANOTHER SPLEN- DID VERSE TO THE CANTO. WE LOVE ST. ANDREW'S, WE ENJOY, FULLY IF DECOROUSLY ST. GEORGE'S, BUT ST. PATRICK'S BALL HOLDS A PLACE OF ITS OWN AS DO ST. PATRICK'S PEOPLE.
Last night's ball with its 420 guests saw the gathering in the Rose Room and Roof Garden of the Peninsula Hotel, of the great, the brave and the fair of the Colony-and quite a large number of, distinguishod persons, but it can be safely said that from H.E. the Governor down to the red-coated mites at the doors, OTOTY man enjoyed himself, while the ladles looked so lovely and so "radiant that we are mire there is not one of them who will not remember St. Patrick's Ball with pleasure,
The arrangements made by St. Patrick's Society and the Hotel management were admirable, and the decorations well chosen and well arranged. In the two ball rooms and the supper room the" arms of the four provinces and of various Irish towns were used and fags and green bunting played their part in the decorative scheme.
