LARWOOD adapted his off-theory, when he opened the bowl ing with Alien against the Australians in their second innings. After three runs had been stored, Fingleton was bowled by Lar wood, when he attempted to turn one from him-3. for. 1. After nine runs had been added to the score Ponsford attempted to cat the first bail of Larwood's fourth over and was splendidly taken by Jardine at backward point-12 for 2. Bradman batted splen didly for seventy-three minutes, showing a masterly all-round dis play and in whelk time he scored 66 runs which included ten fours and one six. Verity was severely punished by him, but was itially caught and bowled by the same bowler 100 for 3.

Hard Task for Australis, At the luncheon interval England were 504 runs in the lead with four wickets to fall, and Australia will have to break all fourth innings re- cords for the Adelaide ground if they are to force a victory.

dispute arising from dissatis faction with the company's agents regarding the terms of contract was witnessed when a mob of 900 Japanese attacked the Yokohama branch of the Singer Sewing Machine, Co, and destroyed nearly all movable property and valuable

records.

Police intervened after-most of the damage had been done arrest- ing over a hundred of the rioters. The foreign staff were out at lunch, thus they escaped the at tacked and injury, but several Japanese were injured.
