On humanitarian grounds we have no hesitation in recommending this petition for a reprieve to our public, and we wish the organisers every success in the worthy enterprise they have undertaken,

"That a special whole-time launch. for conveyance of infectious diseases cases across the Harbour has been provided for and that it is hopeci when this launch is ready, that all possible contingencies in the future will be met, was the gist of the reply by Mr. T. Megarry, President of the Sanitary Board to questions put by Mr. M. K. Lo.

MRS. W. T. SOUTHORN DISTRIBUTES THE PRIZES

An appeal for contributions to the new-building fund was made at the annual prize giving concert held at the C.M.S. Victoria Home" and Orphanage, Kowloon City, yesterday.

There was a very large gathering including, the Right Rev. Birhop Hall, of Victoria, who was in the Chair; Mrs. W. T. Sou- thorn; Dr. E. P. Minolt; Mr. T. H. King; Miss Bawyer; the Rev. W. Walton Rogers; Rev, O. I. Blanchett; Bov. F. Foley; Rev. A. Stewart; and Ray, G. T. Waldegrave. The gathering also in- cluded two lady visitors from Canada.

A DELIGHTFUL CONCERT :

The concert which preceded the prize giving was moat de- lightful and the clever acting and singing-all" in English-won the warm applause of the audience. It was not without interest to listen to the tiny-tots singing in English their opening song, A Happy New Year to you, all."
