LOST WILL OF MR. D. H LAWRENCE
DYING WORDS TO HIS WIFE
The lost will of the late Mr. David Herbert Lawrence, the novelist, was the subject of a suit before Lord Merrivale in the Probate Court.
Mr. Lawrence died at Vence, in France, in March 1930, and a will be made in 1914 has been lost.
His widow, Mrs. Frieda Emma Johanna Maria Lawrance, who stated that her permaneat address is in Mexico, asked the court to rovoke lettors of administration granted to her and Mr. George Lawrence (brothers of Mr. D. H. Lawrence), hud to pronounce in invour of the contents of the will of 1014, under which she was solo bene- ficiary.
Devoted Couple.
The defendants were Mr. George Lawrence and Mrs. Emily Una King, brother and sister of Mr. D. H. Lawrence.
It was stated by Mr. T. Bucknill for the widow, that the suit had been settled. The will was made in 1914, and there was no question about its contents.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence, who were devoted couple travelled all over the world, and tho will had been lost somewhore. during those wan dorings.
Mrs. Lawrence, the widow, des- cribing how the will came to be made, said that in 1914 she and her husband were staying in Bucking hamshire, and in their company were Miss Katherine Mansfield and Mr. Middleton Murry, the auther.
