SOUTH CHINA BEATEN IN FIRST

DIVISION

'SURPRISE, FOOTBALL RESULT: LINCOLNS BEATEN BY

ROYAL ARTILLERY

BORDERERS THIRD DIVISION TEAM GO UNDER: ST.

JOSEPH'S NOW LEAGUE LEADERS

There were quite a few surprises in local football on Sator- day and the South China team who were confidently expected to win, went under to the Club by a single goal.

The Lincolns suffered a further defeat in the fire division when they went under to the RA by an odd goal in five. There was yet another surprise however, fpr in the match between the Navy and Kowloon, the latter won by three clear goals. In the only other match on the card, Borderers beat Recreio by nine without conceding a single goals.

The second division games turned out as generally anticipated and the only interesting match was that betweon South China and the Borderers, the latter winning by an odd goal in five.

The Lincolns second could do no better than share the points with Taung Tsin.

Two unbeaten trams-St. Joseph's and Borderers-met in the third division and the College beat the soldinrs by three goals to two. It was a very good match and the standard of play was quite high at times.

CHINESE ATHLETIC BEAT POLICE

The Police suffered severe defent in their match against Chinese Athletic at Carolina Hill, yester day, to the tune of six goals to one. The football wis not "of a high standard, there was much goal play and wido kicks were prominent.

The first half was almost 'any- body's but the Chinese inside right managed to get one home before the whistle.

The Police continually attacked in the first part of the second half and Johnstone managed to defeat Wong, in goal. The latter having previously distinguished himself. The Police triumph of a draw was. inderd short-lived, the Chinese ce- tre forward beating Fraser at the not only a few seconds after the centre kick..

It was at this point that the Police defence broke dawn and no less than four goals were scored in succession. The scorers being Mak, Chan and Ho (5).
