HOME CRICKET RESULTS

MID-WEEK PROGRAMME CARRIED OUT TAMELY.

YORKSHIRE'S BID TO RETAIN CHAMPIONSHIP HONOURS: ALL-INDIA PUT UP BIG SCORE.

{TIXOUGH RECTOR'S AGENCY.]

London, July 2

The mid-week cricket programme proved to be almost feature-- less, the championship matches being played off in a tame sort of way, Yorkshire, however, registered another victory, and with two matches in hand aro only three points behind Kent who lead in the race for championship honours.

After showing indifferent form for some time, the All-India team came out of their shell in their match against Middlesex and rattled up 400 runs before declaring for 7 wickets. J. G. Noomal (101, not out) and C. K. Naidu (101) provided plenty of thrills for the spectators, each of these batsmen treating the Middlesex attack with scant respect and sending the ball to all corners of the field. Middlesex were fortunate in forcing a draw,

The outstanding performance of the evening was, of course, the win Ining of the 100 yards free style in 68 seconds by Private Campbell of. the South Wales Borderers, who St. Louis

3 Philadelphia won comfortably. Campbell is swimmer with great possibilities, but at the present stage, it would seem that he has to go a very long way before he can touch the best talents in the Colony over the "100,"

Another very good swimmer seen on Saturday was Dolman of the 20th Heavy Battery, who won the first heat for the fifty yards dash and followed this ng by winning the first heat in the 100 yards. He was very tired when he started for the finals of the fifty yards and was beaten by a touch by Olver of the 12th Heavy Battery: In spite of his being very tired, Dolman started in the finals of the "100" but found himself no match for Campbell, who was comparatively quite fresh.
