INGENIONS USE OF CARBON DIOXIDE,

The first of a new type of fire tender has just been delivered to the Redcar (Yorks.) Corporation, "and"animpressive demonstration of its efficiency marked the occa sion. Built to the order of Johu Kerr and Co., Ltd., fire protection Engineers of Northwich and Man- cheater, by Fleming Brothers, Ltd., of Redcar, the vehicle consists of a special type of body in which is housed the "Lux" equipment mauufactured by the Walier Kidde Co., Ltd., mounted on a Commer "Centaur chassis.

The object of the tender is to i enable an adequate supply of CO (carbon dioxide) gas, carried in cylinders compressed to a liquid, to be taken to the fire in the quick- est possible tiine. It is intended! primarily to deal with conflagra-¦ tions that can be handled by first-i aid" appliances, such as motor- car fires, and gas, electric or fat fires. Suficient gas is carried to deal with fire in an immense i room, or in a number of smaller

ones.
