Making prints from negatives is a simple process requiring the ob Borvance of certain rules applicable
In to the kind of paper in use. structions in this respect are on- closed in each packet of paper, but as auch directions, and those given in dext books do not completely help the novico, I propose to explain the various processes in a simple but helpful way for the beginner.
The novice without any idea of tho manner in which printe aro obtaified from negatives can be con fidant of obtaining successful re- salts by following these nates, I must be remembered hat the self. printer, besides deriving consider ablo fascination from his work, has the choice of a variety of papers to suit his fancy. There is also the advantage of seduring pictures. which would retain their freshness and colour for years to come, Not overy dealer is so conscientious as to fix thoroughly and wash the prinik which they do for their ene tomers. The result is that the pic- tures fade away after some time. Printing Processes.
Beginners in printing generally start with daylight printing paper known in the old days as P.O.P. This paper requires, fixing in plain hypo only and is seentially infend ed for work in the daytime. Sel tona, for instance; comes under this class and can be recommended for the purpose.

It is purely a matter of taste,, for while some prefer to see their pic tures on a rough surface, others de- siro a shiny surface which is cb- tained from glossy paper.
Before inserting the negative in the printing frame, care must be taken to see that the glass of the frame is thoughtly clean and free from dust. The negative is placed with the shiny side towards the glass and the dal side uppermost. A sheet of paper with the emulsion side downwards is then placed on dhe negative, the back replaced, and the clips fastened.
