Lo Lak Cheong had twice escaped from Victorin Ghol. In October, 1930, he escaped but was re-arrest ed on the following day in Belcher Street. His scconi escape on August 13 with another man named Mak Kwai was not known until a report was made to the Police by Mr. P. Y. Lo, of the Bank of China. Mr. Lo was on his way to the Bank from his house in Shelley Street. Mr. Lo was walking down Old Bailey when he saw a rope, thrown over the prison wall in Chancery Lane and then saw two men slide down the rope to gain the street.

Mr. Lo at first assumed that they were masons engaged in some work, but a red arrow which he observed on the Khaks trousers of the men convinced him that they were pri soners. He gave chase at the time, but both men oscaped. The pri soners in the course. of their fight shed their chki trousers, when it was noticed that they wore blue trousers underneath.
