In regard to the Chieftainship of the St. Andrew's Society, he said that while, it was a position. of honour, it was an onerous posi tion, but bo would put forth his best endeavour to make it a sƯỠ caful year. The support of the Reel Club had already bean pre- mised.
7 Lient-Col Bird Called upon to say a few words, Lieut-Colonel Bird said he had at- tended many Hallowe'en Dinners, but never had, ho suen a hall so tastefully decorated. He endorsed Mr. Stevenson's remarks about the small numbers of the Scottish Com pany present, but added that he was probably better suited to judge: the position, having been comman dant of the Company since it ori ginated 12 years ago. He saw signs of better times coming for the Con pany after a period of depression, He was pleased that the attendance was much better on parada nights, and was delighted with the increas ed keenness of the pipa band.
