ARSENAL SURPRISED BY GRIMSBY: WEDNESDAY DEFEAT ASTON VILLA,

SOUTHEND LEAD IN SOUTHERN SECTION AND ARE STILL UNBEATEN,

CELTIC BEAT KILMARNOCK.

In the football matches on Saturday, Leicester City were the only visiting team to take full points in the First Division, while two others shared the points. The lowly placed Grimsby did well. in lowering the colours of the Arsenal. West Bromwich Albion had as casy victory over Derby, and Aston Villä stood up well- against Sheffield Wednesday to be aventually beaten by the only goal of the match,

While Bury held their position at the top of the Second Division, Bradford suffered a bad fall, dropping from second to fifth place. Southend United, still without defent, scoured the lend in the Southern Section, Brentford dropping third place behind Bournemouth. Lincoln, Southport and Gateshead retain the same order at the top of the Northern Section, although Southport were deprived of one point on their visit to Crewe. Wrexham won two games during the week to move seven places highar..

Kilmarnock and Celtic, who were behind the two leading" toms in the Scottish League, had a keen encounter in which! Celtic gained the points by the odd goal in five to exchange places. The Rangers, scoring six goals to ons against Motherwell, give promise of ousting Motherwell from their high estate very shortly.
