LONDON BRIDGE ANNIVERSARY.
100 YEARS OF USE.
Just one hundred years ago the first of the public, walked over the new London Bridge, a path which milions bave since trod On August 3, 1631, King William IV, bringing Queen Adelaide with him, delicated the bridge to the use of the citizens..
The Sailor King was no orator, and throw sentences sufficed for him, Incidentally, he forgot to declare the bridge open. But he did toast "the source from which this vast improvement spring-the trade and commerce of the City of London
He walked the full longth of the hridge to witness at the Southwark end a great event of that auspicions day, the ascent of a balloon boar ing two daring aeronauts. This, after narrowly escaping the pin- nades of St. Saviour's Church,.
