The answer is a tribute to the in genuity of John I. Thornycroft & Co., Ltd., of Southampton, who designed and built this unique steamship.

The Robert Coryadon, as she is called, is a vessel of 207 ft, which was designed and built in scetions. shipped to Mombass and then con- veyed overland by rail, and the last

miles by road vehicles to Lake Albert where their engineering staff ré-éructed her for the service of the Kenya and Uganda Rail

WAYS.

She is by far, the largest vessel which has ever navigated the African Iakes. and is a striking example of British enterprise in commercialising the vast resources of the extensive African territories which surround Lake Albert,

The Robert Coryndon is also n notable example of the capabilities of John I. Thornycroft & Co., Ltd., for the designing and building of special types of vessels for extra ordinary service, and is the latest of a long sequence of similarly in teresting ships which have left their Southampton Works for use in all parts of the world..
