CONFERENCE OBJECTS TO BRITISH PROPOSAL,

London, June 17-The Bugges- tion that the British Government should provide export credits to facilitate the building of merchants ships or the transfor of British ships to another flag has aroused' 130 strong opposition from the Interna- tional Shipping Conference whose 710 members represont about 00 per eant, of the whole of the world's merchant tonnage.

A representative meeting of the Conference in London yesterday. passed a resolution declaring that. the application af Government export credits to the building or sale of merchant ships irrespective: of the status or nationality of the buyer would be against the inter ests of the shipping industry.

The Conference urged Great Bri- tain to refrain from applying] Buch credits in this way, as it was then thought other countries would alsc abstain..
