TENNIS PROGRAMME CURTAILED

INDIAN RECREATION CLUB START SEASON WELL. KEON STRUGGLE BETWEEN U.S.RC. AND CIVIL SERVICE WIN FOR THE ARMY, TENNIS CLUB,

Of the fourteen matches scheduled to ba decided over the week-end, only eight wore played, the rest being postponed on Recount of the rain. All the games in the premier division were put off while there were two postponements in the "B" division and one in the "C."

“donble" while the match between the U.S.R.C, and 0.8.C.C. in the B division was particularly interesting, the former only gaining the verdiet by the odd set.

FIRST AQUATIC FETE

SPLENDID PERFORMANCES AT THE V.R.C,

THRILLING CHAMPIONSHIP

CONTEST:

The first swimming fete of tho season was held at the V.R.C..on Saturday night when a very lengthy programme was

as presented.

The 25 yards free style event; open to the Colony went to ED. da Rozu, who, raced for the first time ia shampionship events cn Saturday. There were eight coin- petitors in all and the event was split up into two heats. In the first heat, Lawrence and Faget camo in ahead of two Chinese can- didates, Loung Tit Sang and Leung Shui Man. The last named was slow to get off and nover had a look in at any stage cf the race. E. da Roza won hin hout from three others The final saw a very, close finish. Over the first twolver yards Paget was a matter of it ches ahead of the other competi tors, but after that Lawrence draw slightly ahead. Reza put in a great spurt in the last few strokes to snatch the verdict from Law- thrilling wne Fonée. It faish and there was was less that six inches between the two swim- mers when they "touched."

BEAT CIVIL SERVICE IN SENIOR GAME AND JUNIORS DRAW WITH YACHT CLUB.

Kowloon C.C secured a double victory in the Lawn Bowls League on Saturday, their senior team maintaining their unbenten record at the expense of their neighbours. The senior champions (Craigongower) also maintained their winning, sequence on their own ground when they entertained Kowloon Dock. Taikoo seniors distinguished themselves at home against the Civil Service, whilą. their junior, team also did well in sharing the points at the Yacht. Club. Club de Recreio accounted for the Police by the small margin of four shots, the latter being the only senior team without a single point this season....

In the junior matches, Kowloon Bowling Green Club won, as expected against the Eleotris RO. at North Point, two of the visiting rinks being prominent in the victory, Club de Recreio "took the points from Civil Service at the Valley by a majority of two shots Craigeugower seconds were the victims of Kowloon -- CC.; and the latter are now serious rivals of the Bowling Green

The team.race between the V.R.C. and the C.B,C, was rather one sided as the home team won by three quarters of a length in a six-a-side race over two lengthsing Green. Club lost to Kowloon per swimmer. The Chinese started premisingly and led over the first hundred yards, but thereafter the V.R.C. took command and forted further and further ahead. The times for the various laps averag. ed 28.4 seconds, which everything considered, is exceptionally high.
