London, May 19.-A deputation from three railway trade unions. including all the antional lenders, met Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, the Prime Minister, for an hour and a

half to-day.

The deputation urged the Govern- ment immediately to acquire all the railways on fair terms and to place them under national control.

The .M.S. Empress of Japan arrived at Kobe yesterday at 8 a.m. teft the same day at 4 p.m. is due at Yokohama to-day at 10 am, and leave for Honolulu to-morrow

at 3 p.m.

The R.M.S. Empress Asia (From Manila) is due here at 7.30 a.m. on June 3 and will berth at Kowloon Wharf. She will leave here for Vancouver, B.C., ein Shanghai, Nagasaki, Kobe, Shimizu and Yokohama at noon on June -

'QUEEN OF THE SEVEN SEAS.”

The giant liner Empress of Britain, which left on Wednesday afternoon on her maiden voyage to Quebec. The vessel is 758 feet long, with a gross tonnage of 42,500 tons and has a speed of 27 Knots. She will save three and a half days on the voyage across the Atlantic, and special official aeroplanes, which will link up with the new service, will save five days on mail from London to Vancouver.
