SIXTEEN GOALS FOR PARTICK THISTLE AND FOURTEEN FOR DUNDEE UNITED.
ARSENAL BEATEN IN THE LEAGUE.
Some heavy scoring resulted from the First Round of the Scottish F.A. Cup matches played on Saturday, four teams playing on home grounds netting ten goals, and over. Partick Thistle. scored 10 goals against Royal Albert; Dundee United came › next with 14 goals againat Nitadale; Ayr United scored 11 goals and Dundee 10 goals, The Cup holders (Rangers) won' by six goals. Falkirk and Leith Athletic were the only First Division League teams who were eliminated, while Morton and Airdrie drew with their opponents from the Second Division.
In the English Longue matches, the Arachni werd defented by, Sunderland, and Sheffield Wednesday's success brought them again to the top. Leaders in the other divisions were successful with the exception of Lincoln, who were deprived of one paint by Gateshead.
