Sydney.-The trading banks bave issued a statement declaring that unless affective steps are taken by the Australian Governments to balanco Budgets and reduce costs the time is coming when the banks and other Onancial institutions wil be unable to assist the Governments to meet salaries and other commit ments except at the expense of widening the gap already apparent | Australian industries. If the re- solutions passed at the Premiers effect the drift could have been stopped. The continuance of the Governments' demands to enable them to meet daily obligations force upon the banks the drastic curtail ment of advances to customers which are imperative for the con tinuance of productivo industry.
