Flight Lieutenant Ernest Henly,! stationed at Hendon, said that Mr. Villiers was a pilot officer in the 300th Squadron of the Auxiliary Air Force stationed at Hendon.
Dr. George Cohen (the coroner): What does that mean? It means that he was really a civilian. His Position corresponded to that of
an officor in the Territorial Army. Mr. Villiers had a civil flying certificate, but was not qualified as a service pilot. The machine ho was dying when he met his death was a dualcontrol Blackburn Blue. bird.

SCOTTISH CLIMBING
ACCIDENT.
GLASGOW MAN KILLED.
FIVE HUNDRED FEET FALL,
The Buchaille Etive, at the head of Glencor, Argyllshire, has been the scene of a mountaineering a cident. Mr. Norman W. Mowbray, who was killed, and two compan- ons, all experienced mountaineers, libod the mountain by the Crow- berry Ridge, and having taken off the rope were walking up the final slope to the cairn. At this point Mr. Mowbray was walking over some rocks when apparently ha missed his footing and slipped on to the grassy, slopes.
Unable to stop himself, he was thrown over the cliffs of the north-east fact of the nountain-a drop of about 300 feet.
The accident happened about six o'clock in the evening, and Mr. Mowbray's two friends, spent the romalaing hours of light search ing for their companion among the rocks and gullick. About eight e clock they located the body, but *were unable to reich it. By tele- phone from Tyndrum they gather ed parties of climbers from Edin- burgh and Glasgow, who travelled up during the night by cars to. Kingshouse.
The search parties started at dawn the next day and renched Mr. Mowbray's body about ten o'clock, Death had been instantaneous, it was discovered, and nothing remain- ed but to bring the body down. This was accomplished with some diff culty, but by four o'clock in the afternoon, all the parties were note: ly down on the moor,

"On the return journey," said Mr. Winch, "after taking off Mr. Villiers tried to climb too steeply, with the rosult that the machine did not climb at all, but went along perfectly level, and we were un able to clear some trees. He tried to turn, but the nose of the ma- chiar shipped down, and we crash-
ed.”
Dr. Cohen: Was it possible for you to do anything yourself --No, sir, it was too late.

"Was that an error of judgment ?"1 asked Dr. Cohen.
