Hong Kong China Trade.

A further indication of the big drop in the sterling value of im- ports as compared with 1024 can be found in the fact that in 1024 po import figures were available for the South and Middle China trade, whereas the import trade already recorded from South and Middle China thla year amounts, to over 830,000,000. As 1924 was a flourish ing year, dospite the unsettled state of South Chinn. at that time, it would be reasonable to pressume that the South and Middle China trade in that period was at least proportionate.to the figure already recorded this year, thus further accentuating the present sterling trade losses of the Colony.

For purpears of comparison the year 1994 has been selected, inas much as it was the last completed year in which trade statisties were compiled by Government; the col lection of trade figures being re- sumed in April, 1930.
