V.R.C. CHAMPIONSHIPS.

There was an interval after this, when ten was taken in the Club- house, after which Miss Enid Lo and M. W. Lo took on Miss Leo and S.. A. Rumjahn in a mixed doubles game. The former won in straight sets, 0-1 and 7-5. The first eot was rather tame, but the second produced some very fine tennis at times. However, the redoubtable Lo combination was not to be deni-, ed, and, playing well together, they' had been decided.

Two further championship events wore decided at the V.R.C. bath yesterday, these being the 880 yards" and the long plunge.

PROSPECTS FOR COMING SEASON.

The following comment upon this season's homeside football teams gives some interesting details of personalities and prospects:-

Alivion's recruits include H. E. Foulkes (Llandudno), A. Mallett (Staveley Town), W. Carr (New- castle

being treated.

Gentlemen, It is gratifying to find that the hopes expressed in my have, to some extent, been realised, speech at the last annual meeting for the accounts show that there bas been during the last season a surplus of income over expenditure amounting to 2708.27, as against a surplus of expenditure over income for the previous season of 8708.64 making a total difference $1,507.11. I hope this shows that the lack of support the Association experienced in the season 1928-29 was only a temporary phase and that the coming season will show that the public are still interested iti boxing.

ARTICLES.

The usual comment on and selections for the races TO- MORROW and SATURDAY will appear on this page on the morning of each day's events.

I am glad to say that H.E. Sir William Peet bas very kindly, con- sented to be the President of the Association in the place of Sir Cecil Clementi, and we very much hope that we shall be favoured by his attendance at some of our coming tournaments.

Our honorary secretary and trea- surer, Mr. T. G. Bennett, has re- signed as he is going home, and I am glad to say that the Association have been fortunate in obtaining

the services of Mr. G. 8. Hugh Jones to take his place.

With these few remarks I now beg to propose that the report and accounts for the year ended June 30, 1930, as presented be adopted, and I shall be much obliged if soms member will kindly second such proposal, whereupon questions as to the report and atcounts may be raised,

question of Training School. The question of a training school attached to the Assocoztion whe discussed, and while no definite decision was arrived at, it was felt that the funds of the Association did not permit of any very am- bitious scheme in this direction. Mr. Scott Harston proposed that the Association. should start to put by some of its profits in reserve in order to be able to draw upon

it when occasion arose.

Mr. C. Bond peoposed that in view of the departure of Mr. Bennett from the Colony, BOMB small momento should bo presented to him by the Association. This was unanimously agreed to by the meeting,
