During the past week the local market han riot shown much activity And apart front trausnetions col nected with the September Settle ment on Monday last, the volume of business passing has been sinal). The Settlement having, passed off satisfactorily, the market shows a slightly better tone, there being the favourite more enquiry for counters, but it was not of sufficient volume to make an appreciable im pression on prices.

Banks-long Kong & Shanghai Banks have ruled steady through- out the weak with sales inade at 81,810/81,515. Latest cabled advices from London quote this stock £100 (Middle).
