ENGLISH AND SCOTTISH LEAGUE MATCHES ON SATURDAY.

ARSENAL AND EVERTON STILL AT THE TOP.

Results of the English League football matches on Saturday caused a separation in the joint-loadership of tho. First Division, the Arsenal getting ahead of Aston Villa by two points: Man- ↑ chester City, playing away," succeeded in gotting one point from Derby, while Sheffold Wednesday shared in another drawn game, making the fourth of the season, na visitors to West Ham United. Manchester United were left again without a point.

Everton retained the premier place in the Second Division by defeating Bradford City. Proston North End, their close rivals, also had a comfortable victory, over Stoke, Port Vale, who boat the lenders the previous week, lost to Bury on the only goal of the anatch Plymouth alone of the four bottom seams succeeded in securing the points.

Notts County and Lincoln, in the two sections of Division III, took full points, the former having a hard struggle with Watford. Torquay did well in scoring four goals against Walsall Bristol Rovers and Gillingham were in strong form against the visiting teams.

Partick Thistle had a bad fall in the Scottish League table, their opponents being the Rangers, who are back again at the top.' Motherwell improved their position by winning against Falkirk, while Celtic drew with Queen's Park.
