MISS M. ROOT.

VALUE IN PROMOTION OF

WORLD PEACE,, -

On Tuesday night Miss Martha L. Root broadcast from the Hong Kang. Broadcasting. Studio a lee- ture on Esperanto as a Universal Auxiliary Language," Mr. Chang Hek Wang, President of the Horg Kony University Union, interpret ed the lecture in Chinese...

Miss Root traced the growth of Esperanto throughout the world, touching particularly om Chins where she found extraordinary "in- terest in the language, and men- cloned that Peking had the bopour. of establishing the first Esperanto College in the world. The lecturer described her experiences during her travels throughout the, globe- in the U.S.A., South America, Aus tralia, Germany, Czecho-Slovakia, Englaud and other countries where the study of Esperanto as a univer sal auxiliary language' had made, great strides during recent years.

The lecturer concluded a very interesting lecture as follows:-

To Premote World Peace.

The most important reason for studying Esperanto is because it will help to promote world peace,

The costume, which is as ex- pensive as it is heavy, was designed especially for Miss Daniels to wear in the name räle of "Bio Rita."

Designed and made by Walter Plunkett, head of the RKO ward to 6 pm.-European programme robe department, this extravagant costume consists largely of gold. lace and rhinestones. It is worn by 'Miss Daniels during a garden fête given by the kinkajou," a notori- ous under-cover" bandit. It is one of the most spectacular scenes of the sensational musical show.

The bodice of Bebe's extra- ordinary gown is of souffle, a trans- parent net that blends with Miss Daniels' skin, giving a startling effect. Gold applique bordered with rhinestones trims the front of the hodice and comes down woll across the left hip, joining the bouffant skirt of gold cloth.

With this is worn an elaborate gold lace shawl that sweeps, from shoulder to the ground. She wears high rhinestone comb in her hair and the finishing touch is a gold lace mantilla studded with rhine- stones.

J

C:

Mr. Plunkett fixes the value of 6 the costume at $10,000, but those who saw Miss Daniels wearing it during the filming of "Rio Rita," were unanimous in the expression that "it looks like a million.”
