SOUTH LANCASHIRE

CHANGE OVER.

BETTER THAN TRAM OR MOTOR BUS.

The substitution of trackless trolley buses for tram-care on part of the South Lancashire Tramway Company's route'

officially signalised last month. This change will be followed as quickly as possible by the complete removal of tram-cars from the company's ser- vice in favour of the more mobile vehicle.

The South Lancashire Tramways was part of the larger Lancashire" United Transport cad Power Com pany. The tram-cars operate over thirty-seven miles of the industrial area that extends from Manchester through Salford to Bolton, on Atherton, Hindley, Ashton-in-

Makerfield, and Lowton St. Mary's The trams are to be removed ìm- mediately from the seven miles of the 'track that stretches from Ather. ton to Ashton by way of Hindley. The overhead wires will remain, but the County Council will in time re- move the rails.

Sellers are still very cautions; arrivals of paddy continue to be very poor, and detentors seem not at all decided to give up their re- maining stocks.
