The cotton yarn market is fairly active us demand by merchants in the West liver districts is brisk. The prices are, however, fluctuating.
The quantity of raw silk exported abroad during August totalled 8,354 bales or 668,390 catties. Of this amount, some 3,000 bales were ex- ported to the United States.
The price of both Chinese and foreign sheet metal has recently fallen. The present quotations for sheet brass vary from 887 to 9PM, sheet, tutenag 8200, sheet bronze 8120, and sheet copper $110.

Due to incrensing demand the prices of foreign sugar have risen. Sharply The current prices for white powdered sugar vary from $12.40 to $13.90 per picul.
Consumption of foreign rice has been limited. Only a few-hundred bags have been imported from Hong Kong during the past few days.

CAPETOWN, Sept. 3. The Minister of Agriculture has decided to permit Japanese wool buyers to enter the Union of South Africa for free competition on the South African wool markets.
The decision may lead to a most important extension of the market for South African wool.
