LOVER CONFESSES MURDER.

TO SPARE A GIRL PAIN:

Angelo Huscher, air Italian re siding in Paris recently confessed to the murder of a compatriot call- ed Marlatti, who was killed dur- ing a quarrel in a bar. At his trial before the Seine and Oise Assize Court many witnesses came forward to prove that not he, but M. Pizza) galli, son of the keeper of the bar, had committed the murder. Has cher, who was in love with the bar- keeper's daughter, had taken the guilt upon himself, in order to shield her from the pain of seeing her brother tried for murder. Be fore his death the victim, who was struck down by blows from an iron as the named Pizzagalli' bar Assassin, but Hascher so strenuously protested his guilt that he was arreated; while the nurderer went free

"The evidence was so complete thit the President of the Court; in agreement with the Public Proseau tor, dismissed the eneo against the young man, commenting on the gallantry which had led him to sacrifice bimself to justice to apare the feelings of the girl he loved.

Women are demanding full entry into the priesthood on an equal foating with men,

In an extraordinary memoran- dum to the Bishops of the Angli can Church, it is revealed that an unauthorised ministry is at pre- sant being earried on. Women are "seeking the ministry of women in sacramental confession and are ex- periencing the reality of the absolu- tion conferred."

The memorandum was forward- ed to the Archbishop of Canterbury for the consideration of the Bis hops at the Lambeth Conference. It was prepared by the Interdeno. minational Society for the Minis-, try of Women and was signed by,

Dr. Sybil Pratt.

The most striking passage in the memorandum states:-

"Women are increasingly inclined to wish for the ministry of their own sex in case of conscience, just As they are inclined to seek the service of women doctors when their needs are physical."

It adds:

"In some cases so great is the need in thig direction that women are at the present moment seeking the ministry of women in anera- mental confession and are experi encing the reality of the absolu- tion conferred."

Unauthorised."

But this unauthorised ministry (the memorandum adds) is inade- 20979quate to the needs of the situation and, from the point of view of or- der is undesirable, though inevit able, under 'present conditions,
