to see their appropriately simple music displaced by echoes?

The gramophone recorde played were in themselves remarkable. The chimes sounded softly yet clearly through the trees, and so little were the birds concerned that they did not cease singing; the music inside the church was equally harmonious. The trouble was that it all seemed too good, or at least too magnifi cent and complex, for the setting; and this impression was heighten- ed by the choice of Stoke Poges as the scene of the experiment. From its intimate association with Gray's "Elegy," this is one of the best- loved churches in all England-in all the world, indeed, as the visi tors' book witnesses-and it still keeps the simplicity out of which that poem was distilled.

The ancient yew under which Gray is locally believed to have composed it stands opposite the CHINA BIOCHEMICAL CO church door; it has been stopped

Since the revolution, Germany has been split into two camps, with the adherents of the old empire sunting the old imperial colours of black, red and goid established by the constitution.
