The American schoolboys reached the semi-final of the Thames Cup at Henley Regatta to-day wher they defeated Princeton University in a most exciting race.
After a false start Princeton get well away and drew ahead. The Kent School crew was naable to draw level in the race, but opposite the enclosure the schoolboys' cox, whistling shrily through his teeth, worked up the stroke to the terri
c rate of 40 a minute.
Slowly, inch by inch Kent drew level, and 30 yards from the fish the schoolboys drew ahead and won by half & length.
Their time was 7 minutes and 27 seconds, one better than last year's winners.
The final of the Diamond Sculls Will provide the first meeting be- tween a German and a Canadian in the history of the race.
To-day Boetzelea (Germany) de- fosted Joe Wright, a former holder of the title and one of the Cana- dian challengers, by one and a quarter lengths, after a very spirit- ed rice. The German's time was 8 minutes 52 seconds.
The other Canadian challengers Guest, easily defeated Collett of Leander, his time being 8 minutes. 42 seconds.
